Tikkun Olam
Repairing the World
Tikkun Olam reflects the Jewish commitment to serving others and taking responsibility for improving our communities and the world. As Pirkei Avot teaches, "It is not your duty to finish the work, but neither are you free to desist from it." (Pirkei Avot 2:16)
Chesed
Loving-kindness
Chesed is the Jewish value of showing compassion, generosity, and care in our everyday actions. As Proverbs teaches, "Let kindness and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart." (Proverbs 3:3)
Tzedek
Justice
Tzedek is a foundational Jewish value that calls us to pursue fairness, dignity, and equity in our relationships and communities. As the Torah teaches, "Justice, justice shall you pursue." (Deuteronomy 16:20)
Kavod HaBriyot
Honoring Human Dignity
Kavod HaBriyot ("honoring human dignity") is the Jewish value of recognizing the inherent worth of every person and treating all people with dignity, respect, and compassion, especially those who are vulnerable or marginalized. As Pirkei Avot teaches, "Do not despise any person." (Pirkei Avot 4:3)
